Back loads 2017
These are the 45 return loads we advertised during 2017, as they were written at the time. Each one was a lorry finishing a job away from home with an empty bed and a journey to make anyway. Nothing here has been reworded.
Everything here was collected on the way past. None of these journeys was made for the load on it — the vehicle was already pointed at Manchester when the job came in.
Collected on the way home
A back load is a collection made by a lorry that is already on its way back. The vehicle has done what it went out to do, the deck is clear, and it has several hundred miles to cover before it is any use to anybody again.
Filling that deck costs a fraction of sending a lorry out on purpose, and that is the whole of the saving. What it costs you instead is control of the date. A return load moves when a vehicle of ours is finishing near you and heading the right way, which might be tomorrow and might be a fortnight.
The crane is on the vehicle, so the collection does not depend on you having anything to lift with. That is the difference between a back load with us and a back load on a general haulage lorry, and it is usually the thing that makes the idea workable at all.
