The problem it solves

Big projects, small footprints

Manchester sites keep getting bigger while the compounds around them keep getting smaller. A development with hundreds of workers on a plot the size of a car park cannot store what it needs, and every delivery that arrives early takes up space the job needs to work in.

We built the storage and distribution service with construction clients to solve exactly that. Materials come to our yard instead of your compound, sit there for as long as they need to, and are delivered when the programme calls for them.

Because the vehicles are ours, the material is loaded, delivered and placed by one company — and placed properly, since the crane is on the lorry.

How it runs

In, held, out

1. Delivered to us

UK or international consignments come to the Manchester depot. We book them in and unload with our own cranes, so no forklift or third party is involved.

2. Held securely

Seven acres, monitored around the clock and secured with CCTV. Temporary between phases or long term as standing stock — whichever the job needs.

3. Called off to site

You tell us when. Our fleet takes it out of storage, delivers it and lifts it into position, and comes back for the next batch.

This is open, secured yard storage rather than a warehouse. If your goods need to be under cover or climate controlled we will say so rather than take the space.

The yard

Seven acres off Hulme Hall Lane

Open, secured yard storage in Miles Platting, three miles from Manchester city centre and minutes from the M60, M62 and M6.

Everything is loaded by our own crane

Nothing here waits on a third party with a forklift. Consignments are booked in, unloaded by the crane on the lorry that brought them, and put where they can be got at again. When the call comes, the same fleet takes them out.

The yard runs on the same hours as the office — Monday to Friday 06:00 to 18:00, and Saturday 07:00 to 12:30. Call-offs are planned in advance rather than turned round the same hour, so tell us the date and we will have it loaded.

Common questions

Storage and distribution, answered

Where is the yard?

Norton Street, off Hulme Hall Lane in Miles Platting — minutes from Manchester city centre and from the M60, M62 and M6. Seven acres, monitored around the clock and secured with CCTV.

What can you store?

Anything that lives outdoors and that our cranes can handle: containers, cabins, steel, precast, plant, stillages, palletised materials and site equipment. If it needs to be under cover or climate controlled, we are not the right yard.

Is it short term or long term?

Both. Some clients store for a fortnight between site phases; others keep stock with us permanently and call it off as jobs come up.

Can goods be delivered straight to you?

Yes, and that is usually the point. Have your UK or international deliveries come to our depot rather than to a site with nowhere to put them, and we move them out as you need them.

How quickly can you get something to site?

It depends on the day and the vehicle, but the material is already in Manchester and already ours to load, which removes most of the delay. Clients on an ongoing arrangement get a call-off routine rather than a fresh booking each time.

Do you unload and position it as well?

Yes. It goes out on a hiab, so it is placed where it is going to be used rather than left at the gate. That is the whole reason the storage and the haulage sit in the same company.

What needs storing, and for how long?

Tell us roughly what it is and how long it needs to stay. We will tell you whether the yard suits it.
