What 2022 looked like
Each one is a job that happened, captioned with what it was.
Glamping pods loaded out
Pods loaded and strapped at the yard. Nothing about the weight is difficult; everything about the width is.
Pods delivered
Set down at the far end. Pods normally land on a prepared base or on bearers, so the position has to be right first time.
A pod on its position
Set down on its final position in an open field, which is where most of them end up. Timber shells mark easily, so they go on webbing and never on chains.
A portable cabin delivered
A standard site cabin lifted off and positioned. The job we do more of than any other.
Machinery transport
A machine loaded, chained and run. Plant goes on chains and comes off on the crane if there is nothing to drive it down.
A gateway sign at Barnsley
A tall brick-clad gateway sign lifted upright into its foundation at Barnsley. The whole job is holding something top-heavy still while somebody else grouts it in.
Held while it is fixed
The second leg of the same sign, on the strop and plumb, with the crew working at the base. The crane does not move again until it is fixed.
Cabins off the wagon and drag
March 2022, the 658 wagon and drag working through a load of cabins. The drag carries the second unit so the pair travel together.
A unit over the yard
One of the cabins in the air and crossing the yard to its place on the stack.
Landed alongside
The unit down beside the others. Placing a cabin square first time saves an hour of shuffling.
Loaded and ready to run
Both units on and strapped. A wagon and drag doubles what one driver and one crane can move in a day.
Pods are the load that catches people out. They are light, so the crane is never the problem — but they are wide, fragile, and usually going somewhere with a soft field and a gate that is four inches too narrow.
