A refurbished cabin lifted off the deck by the crane in the Nortons yard at Miles Platting
Miles Platting, Manchester · Currently closed

Cabin Painter

Preparation and painting of portable cabins in the workshop at Miles Platting. Not open at the moment, but it is the job that comes round most often.

The role

Not open at the moment

Every unit that leaves the cabin workshop has been painted, and it is painted the old way: prepared by hand, undercoated, and finished in a gloss external paint. It is the last thing that happens to a cabin and the first thing the customer sees when it comes off the lorry, so it is not a corner anybody here is willing to cut.

The vacancy is not open at the moment. It is still worth a CV, because painting is the job this workshop recruits for most often and it rarely gets as far as an advert — when somebody moves on, the call goes to whoever is already in the drawer.

When it is open it is a full-time workshop job at Miles Platting: Monday to Friday, half seven to half four, overtime and Saturdays available, and an early finish on a Friday if you have started early.

This job is in Nortons Portable Cabins, the workshop at Miles Platting, part of the same family business and the same yard. The company has its own site at nortonscabins.co.uk if you want to see the work before you apply. Apply here or there — it reaches the same office either way.

Send it anyway

We keep CVs on file, and we use them

There is no application form on this page because there is no vacancy, and a form that goes nowhere is worse than no form. Email your CV to info.nospam@nortonshiabservices.co.uk and it will be read and kept.

What is open right now

Nothing open, but send it anyway

A CV already on the desk is the one that gets called when a job comes up.
