Nortons offer professional long loads haulage service, covering all areas of long and abnormal goods.
We have moved many different long and abnormal goods since our start in 2007.
We have our own escort vehicles, which ensures the transit time is reduced as we do not have to wait along the route for local police escort vehicles.
A Long Load is classed as a Load with a rigid length of more than 18.65 metres.
Our Wide Load Exemption Notices cover the entire United Kingdom and, where required, we work with the relevant police authorities to plan routes and provide our own escort vehicles.
Nortons are experts in the transportation and movement of all abnormal freight including everything from machinery to portable buildings.
We offer a complete route study, liaising with police and local authorities along the route.
Abnormal load
What is an Abnormal Load?
An abnormal load is a vehicle that has any of the following:
- » a weight of more than 44,000 kilograms
- » an axle load of more than 10,000 kilograms for a single non-driving axle and 11,500 kilograms for a single driving axle
- » a width of more than 2.9 metres
- » a rigid length of more than 18.65 metres
All our operators are fully CPCS trained and we have a NEBOSH health and safety officer and our own appointed persons.
Our HIAB hire services operate daily, so whenever you need specialist lifting capabilities you can be sure we’ll be there to help. We operate an ‘on call’ service throughout the UK, so whenever, wherever you are, you can always pick up the phone and we’ll be ready to help.
Containers & Portable Cabins Transport
Our HIAB lorries have an inbuilt crane which is utilised to lift the portable cabin off the wagon and transfer it into position.
